Originally from Nadi, but residing in Australia, 26-year-old Irshad Mohammed spent his New Year celebration in the North.
To experience the true natural beauty of Vanua Levu, he visited the Sevou Waterfall in Savusavu.
Mr Mohammed and his friends; Mohammed Shiraz and Mohammed Zibran, were at the waterfall yesterday.
It is located along the Hibiscus Highway which links Savusavu and Labasa. It is a popular picnic site.
“I came to Labasa to spend my holidays and visit my friends since it has been long I never met. I am currently residing in Australia,” Mr Mohammed said.
Mr Mohammed who lives in Australia with his family said he enjoyed his trip to Labasa and even Savusavu. It was his first time in the North.
“We were trying to make plans for today and we decided to come and see this waterfall. We are making use of this trip and this waterfall can make a good tourist destination.”
He said he visited picnic spots in Savusavu, spent days in Labasa and finally found a spot where he could sit and had water flowing over him.
“The waterfall is good and people should make use of their natural habitat instead of living it idle. It does not matter if it is on the main highway, but the beauty of this flowing water is marvelous,” Mr Mohammed said.
