In 1975 when John Duncan was still single, he made his first trip to Naviti.
Mr Duncan, whose wife also visited Naviti years after he did in 1979 while she was single, has fond memories of the Resort and visits regularly.
Since the couple both shared a great love for the resort, Mr and Mrs Duncan  visited Naviti as a couple in 1999 with their daughters, Laura, then nine years old and Shelley, four years old and have done so ever since.
Mrs Duncan calls herself home manager because once they get back from holidays in Fiji, their mum will be on the internet the whole day trying to look for cheaper airfares and booking flights for their next visits.
Laura, who graduated from University of Technology Sydney in Sports Science, decided to pursue a career in teaching and is now a high school teacher at Bagowlah Boys High School.
She teaches Personal Development, Health and Physical Education and after hours she teaches dance as this is one of her hobbies.
The Duncan family, who are from Sydney, Australia, have also done a little bit of acting for a famous Australian television series called ‘Home and Away’.
The series just happens to be filmed on the beach close by to their home. Laura, Mr Duncan and Shelley have appeared in one of the episodes.
Meanwhile, Shelley is currently a student at the University of Technology Sydney following in the footsteps of her elder sister and studying to become a teacher.
The Duncan family were asked why they kept coming back to stay at the Naviti Resort on their holidays and all they could say was “we feel at home here”
“Fijian people are wonderful in remembering faces and that is something that is unique about the people of this country.”
“They get to visit the Fijian villages around the hotel and have really made friends with so many families,” Mr Duncan said.
Not only does the Duncan family frequent the resort regularly but they help to promote it overseas to their family and friends.
On every visit to the resort they have brought along with them other friends and families who have heard about their trips to Fiji and wanted to share their experience at the Naviti.
“We love this resort so much; when our daughters get married, it will definitely be held at the Naviti and we look forward to coming back here (Naviti Resort) every year.
“This is our 14th visit to the Naviti as a family,” Mr Duncan said.
