A 10-week programme to specifically nurture the potential of young golfers is under way at the Novotel Nadi Hotel at Namaka, which holds the tourist town’s largest hotel golf course outside of Denarau Island.
Now into its sixth week, 20 junior golfers below the age of 16 travelled from as a far as Suva to spend two days programme under the guidance of instructor Jim Luita.
Luita said it was important to continually support the young budding golfers as they would be the ones to represent the country on the world arena in future.
“This is the only way we can replace our players like for Vijay (Singh),” Luita said.
Divided into three distinct age categories; 6-8 years, 12-14 years and 15-16 years, the multi-racial participants enjoyed two days at Novotel’s sprawling green and received prizes for their achievements.
