Four umpires left for New Zealand on Sunday to participate in the New Zealand Netball Championship.
The four are former National netball coach Gaberiele Qoro, Jona Saturu, Litia Rabitu and  Raijeli Rabitu.
Fiji Netball executive Alini Sovu said the four would be assessed during the championship. “Jona is going for his NZ B accreditation and Raijeli is going for her NZ C accreditation,”Sovu said.
“Both did their Oceania theory last year and have passed that to allow them to progress.
“This is all part of Fiji Netball’s effort to try and get umpires accredited.”
Sovu added Qoro and Litia are going for their practical after passing the Oceania theory. “We drew up our pathway according to the Oceania standard which is similar to Netball NZ.
“After the National Championship last month, we identified a few umpires who we believe can come through the same system.”
Fiji has seven accredited umpires in Mela Druwani, Lo Bainivalu, Kalesi Tabete and the four that left for the NZ Championship.
