Petero Talenabose
Suva

I thank the authorities for the quick action in apprehending the five escapees and those allegedly connected to the BSP Samabula branch robbery.
It is interesting to note the storm being kicked up by those advocating “rights”. All well and good!
But do note, these escapees have been here before.
They are familiar with their rights and know how to act the part to gain our sympathy.
Did you know that much of their time in prison is spent on law books and its interpretation?
Did you know that they have “legal advisers” in prison among those incarcerated?
They prepared themselves knowing they would break out and knowing they would be caught!
Unless they really do change, which is quite a long lifetime away, we only prepare ourselves for the next lot of escapees!
So my request to those “rights experts” is why not go into prison and teach “rights” in there.
It may assist in ensuring that those planning the next escape will break out armed with the knowledge that they shouldn’t impinge on my rights while they are out on the run!
