At least 12 roles in KIDANET will be disestablished as KIDANET operations fold back into that of Fiji International Telecommunications Limited (FINTEL).
This was confirmed to Sun Business last night by FINTEL chief executive, Ioane Koroivuki.
Mr Koroivuki said one of the roles included that of KIDANET chief executive.
He said the disestablishment some of the roles was effective from between October 1 to 12.
A subsidiary of the Amalgamated Telecom Holdings Limited (ATH), Mr Koroivuki said FINTEL and KIDANET used to operate under a group structure.
“With the fold-back of KIDANET, this structure will be dismantled and there will be one chief executive managing both the operations as one,” he said.
Despite this fold back, Mr Koroivuki said KIDANET would maintain its products, services and customers as there will only be a change in management organisational structure.
“KIDANET is not being shut down. It continues to run as it was and the services will be maintained,” he said.
The hot topic of discussion since ATH bought control of FINTEL earlier this year has been about merging of ATH’s subsidiary Connect, with KIDANET as both the entities were in competition with each other.
Mr Koroivuki, however, said that although Connect and KIDANET were running off each other’s infrastructure, KIDANET would continue run as its own.
ATH acting general manager Ivan Fong confirmed the restructure going on at FINTEL and its importance for the ATH Group.
He said: “We have high level of expectations from our subsidiary companies and it is up to the management and board to address its own efficiencies.
“I am aware they had plans to undergo a restructure of KIDANET, but I am not aware as to when it comes into effect.”
Mr Fong stressed the ATH board expected all its companies to be as efficient as possible.
