Women needed for Labasa festival

Women in Labasa have been urged to put their hand up for the 2013 Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North.
This was heard at the festival committee’s meeting on Saturday night. Committee member Ami Kohli said there was a need for new people to join because they bring in new ideas for a better and greater festival, come 2013.
“There is also a need for more ladies to join the committee and the old members need to move on.” Mr Kohli said
Committee president Mohammed Yasin said this year’s festival actually went well.
“Our main objective was to raise funds and get projects done, projects that no one else has undertaken.”
“This year was a major success and we cannot thank people enough for their support, sponsorship and just being there for the committee and the people of Vanua Levu.”
Mr Yasin also thanked the festival’s  major sponsor, Vodafone Fiji Limited, for providing $40,000 for the event.
Vodafone handed in a total of $40,000 while the contestants collectively raked in $59,938.20. More than $150,000 was the gross takings at the festival.
