Wes Naiqama will captain the Vodafone Fiji Bati against Italy on October 12.
And he is excited with his new role and is ready to gel well with our local boys and overseas players.
“I’m very excited with the appointment and my biggest challenge now will be to lead from the front,”Naiqama said.
“Our focus now is the Rugby League World Cup next year.
“But the first priority now is against the Italians next week.”
Naiqama jetted into the country on Monday night and is not only watching the Battle of the Bati challenge today.
“The challenge for me is to try and know the local players, understanding their way of play and we’ll work things out from there,”he said.
“I’m looking forward to join camp next week.”
Vodafone Fiji Bati head coach Rick Stone said having a player like Wes Naiqama in the side is a big asset for them.
“I’m looking forward to work with these players and to build a good relationship towards a successful World Cup campaign,”Stone said.
“It is good we have Naiqama to lead us against Italy.”
The Newcastle Knights winger said he did not have a fruitful NRL season this year but is looking forward to next season.
“I did not have such a good season this year but I hope that everything will turn out well next time.”
