Two men appeared at the Nadi Magistrates Court yesterday afternoon, after they were allegedly found in possession of a .22 riffle.
Taito Seninawanawa and Jolame Qauqau pleaded not guilty to the one count each of being found in possession of prohibited arm. They appeared before Magistrate Mohammed Ajmeer.
They have been remanded in Police custody while Police complete investigations on other charges of theft faced by the duo. Seninawanawa had appeared in the Nadi Magistrates Court with three other people facing charges of aggravated burglary, theft and serious assault.
He is one of the four men who allegedly involved in a series of robberies in the Western Division. It is alleged that the Raffles Gateaway Hotel, Trans International Hotel and the Tanoa International Hotel were robbed by Seninawanawa and his accomplices.
Police Prosecutor Sergeant Subramani Naidu objected to bail asking the court to refuse them bail because the men were investigated for other pending issues.
Seninawanawa and Qauqau waived their right to a lawyer and wished to represent themselves before the court. Their case has been adjourned to October 5, where they will appear with the rest of the men who are still in Police custody.
