Today is World Teachers’ Day and the Minister for Education, Filipe Bole, has commended teachers around the country for their hard work.
“Today, as we commemorate World Teachers’ Day, we must take a stand for teachers. Teachers are the best resource we can put into a school and schools are the base for healthy and law – abiding communities,” Mr Bole said.
He said teachers should be praised for the execution of their roles.
“I must congratulate the 9553 teachers in our 913 primary and secondary schools for being the positive inspirations to students. There are also more than 800 early childhood education teachers and we thank them for the patience and tolerance they have exhibited while nurturing the infant students.”
He called on teachers to upskill and upgrade their qualifications to improve the quality of teaching and learning.
“There are three local universities in the country where you can pursue further training to upskill and upgrade your qualifications. Mr Bole called on Fiji to support teachers.
Schools will celebrate World Teachers’ Day in their respective schools today.
