After a lapse of one year, Saunaka,Nadi native- Samuela Saqiwa has returned to the HSBC  Sevens World Series circuit.
Saqiwa made his debut during the Dubai Sevens in 2010 and will feature again at the Gold Coast Sevens tournament next week.
He was over the moon when he made the cut in the 12-member Digicel Fiji 7s team.
“The last time I represented Fiji was in 2010,”Saqiwa said.
“And now when the team management has given me a chance to prove myself once again, I’m blessed,” he said.
“I want to thank the Lord for giving me this opportunity and Fiji Rugby Union for believing in me.”
He will be another Saunaka native who will be flying Nadi’s banner in the international scene next week. Some of the big names that Saqiwa mentioned to have donned the national jumper were his uncle, the elusive first five-eighth Ilaitia Ravouvou and grandfather the late Ratu Josateki Savau.
“I want to thank my families my friends for encouraging me to train hard and try to assist my team to defend our title in Gold Coast.
“I also want to thank Nadi Rugby for their support and for nurturing me well to where I am today, not forgetting members of my Digicel Fiji 7s team.”
The prop knows the importance of the task ahead and is ready to take on the challenge.
“I’m ready for next week and I’m confident that I will do my job well.
“We also need public support through prayers so that we can win in Gold Coast again.”
