The Fiji Police Force yesterday held a community awareness program at the grounds next to International School in Laucala Beach Estate.
The chief guest Reverend Jokatama Bola said that it was important to ensure that neighbourhoods remained safe places to live.
He was impressed that the Police force was investing in crime free programmes at the Laucala Beach Estate.
He said that in terms of crime prevention a few more initiatives would surely secure the communities.
So far the Laucala Beach Police Post has received a total of 270 cases of crime which include assault, burglary and robbery.
Police Inspector Baselio Matai blamed outsiders for the major crimes in the Laucala Beach Estate area.
Meanwhile the Land transport Authority of Fiji and Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre were also present as part of their own community awareness programmes.
Medical health check-ups were also facilitated.
