Police will be out in numbers today as part of the Fiji Day celebrations to provide safety and security to guests and members of the public attending the Fiji Day celebrations in all divisions.
The Commissioner of Police has issued a directive whereby officers must ensure that the Fiji Day celebrations are to be incident-free events. Members of the public are also being advised on the closure of the following roads: Cakobau Road, Suva will be closed from 6am to 1pm. Southern Cross Road behind the pavilion will also be closed.
Victoria Parade will also be closed temporarily for the march at 8.15am.
Operations around the divisions will also be beefed up to counter any criminal elements that might take advantage of the public holiday and people being away from their homes.
