Beware of pretenders

The Ministry of Social Welfare, Women and Poverty Alleviation is calling on the public to be aware of imposters they allege are obtaining money through false pretences.
The Ministry’s media liaison officer, Anshoo Chandra, confirmed a case reported to the Ministry this week about a man who allegedly obtained money from an elderly woman in Nadi by providing false information.
She said the matter has been reported the Police for further investigation.
“All social welfare officers carry an identification card and people must demand for this ID cards and matters relating to social welfare should be properly channelled to the their nearest social welfare offices,” Ms Chandra said.
