Books are an important part of life. With these sentiments the Ratu Sukuna Vuli Oti (RSVO) donated books to Ratu Sukuna Memorial School (RSMS) yesterday.
The RSVO comprise thousands of old scholars of RSMS living in Fiji and abroad.
President of the 1990’s class, Merelita Rovi said the book donation was a way to show the old scholars’ appreciation of the school.
‘It is a way to thank the school for instilling values in us that has helped us thus far in life. The book drive was the best possible way to show our appreciation because it would help other students,” Ms Rovi said.
Ms Rovi said the book drive started in February this year and was the initiative of all the old scholars involved in the RSVO.
“We just hope that this initiative helps the students today. The books donated today include reference books, text books and also novels and materials for the library.”
“The RSVO has also provided internet connection and a printer for the school. In this day and age of technology the internet would help the school a lot.”
School principal Unaisi Vaileba thanked the RSVO and encouraged the current students to take full advantage of the donations.
“These books are an asset to the school and are tremendously beneficial to each and every one of us here today.”
Twenty cartons of books which contained up to 1000 books were donated to the school
