The Constitution Commission heard on Tuesday that some Village by-laws needed to be made mandatory in iTaukei villages.
Presenting a written submission on behalf of Vuna Village in Taveuni, village headman Ioane Tavatu said restrictions must be included in the new constitution to bind all iTaukei and visitors into village communities.
Mr Tavatu said the villagers of Vuna proposed restrictions on drugs and liquor, inappropriate dressing, littering, among others.
He also highlighted the need for visiting Government officials to be punctual.
Mr Tavatu further submitted to the Commission that the orders or instructions of the village headman or turaga-ni-koro should be heeded diligently by all villagers.
