Argentina accepts Tuiloma credentials

The Vice-President of the Republic of Argentina, Dr Amado Boudou, has accepted Fiji’s Ambassador to the Federative Republic of Brazil, Cama Tuiloma’s credentials as the first Non Resident Ambassador of Fiji to the Republic of Argentina.
This ceremony was held at the Government House in Buenos Aires.
Mr Tuiloma was among seven Ambassadors who presented their credentials.
In the presentation, Mr Tuiloma conveyed the cordial greetings of the President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, and extended the warmest regards and best wishes of the Government and the people of the Republic of Fiji to the Government and the people of Argentina.
Fiji and Argentina have had cordial relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations some 37 years ago and even though the two countries are separated by the vast Pacific Ocean the two peoples share common interests, values and concerns. Vice President Boudou said rugby had brought our two countries together many times.
Mr Tuiloma informed the Vice President that bilateral trade and economic ties between the two nations was small, but the spirit of deepening friendship and opportunity for co-operation was of great potential and importance and compelled both to collectively pursue that path.
Ambassador Tuiloma also commended Argentina for the support given to Small Island Developing States during its term as Chair of G77 and China.
He said Fiji hoped that Argentina would extend its South-South Co-operation assistance to the Pacific Small Island Developing States  region and looked forward to developing bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade and investment, tourism, social services, ICT, energy, primary industry, sports and peacekeeping amongst others.
