The current FEA billing system is based on actual reading of consumers’ meter and estimated meter reading when they don’t come to read your meter.
If for two months FEA estimated reading bills the consumer for $10 each a month, that’s $20 for two months.
If your previous consumptions based on actual reading, your bill is around $100 per month, then you have a difference of $90 per month on estimated reading, or $180 difference for two months on estimated reading.
Then on the third month actual reading will now include the two months difference ($180) plus your current actual bill of $100 for the third month, a total of $280 for the third month actual reading.
Paying $100 per month is already a burden, $280 is overburdening the consumers that leads to stress.
So the poor consumer has to find that amount to avoid disconnection. What if at the moment the consumer does not have that money, then the consumer will be disconnected because of FEA system, not the consumers fault.
Then you have to pay reconnection fee when you have the money, another stress on the consumers because of FEA system.
Will the Consumer Council or PM look into this matter? Does FEA have the authority to stress the consumers through their system of billing or bullying?
