The Stingray Swimming Club honoured their members in Suva yesterday.
Stingray took part in the National Swimming Championships in Nadi last weekend and returned to Suva with 110 medals, 59 of which were gold medals.
Club official Karen Lobendhan said the achievement was a great one for the club.
“We have also managed to win a sponsor in Foneology.
“We were the smallest squad with 21 swimmers most of whom only started swimming earlier this year. And they range from 7 years to 14 years.
“Among the notable achievements was made by Calum Lobendhan who broke a record in the 800m freestyle which is now a national record.”
The club started in 2009 and last year their 15 swimmers won 30 medals.
“We’re grateful to the coaches as well,”Karen said.
“They have done extremely well in getting the kids psyched up which enabled them to work hard and come out strong.
“We the parents and management are proud of the big success.”
The Stingray club also offers swimming classes in different categories for beginners, improving, development and seniors.
