Taveuni has qualified for Premier division final after 41 years. This was after they defeated neighbours Dreketi 2-0  in the Courts IDC at Govind Park yesterday.
The last time Taveuni reached the final was in 1971 and the win yesterday marked a remarkable performance from the side.
Taveuni coach Billy Hussein said they have a very young team.
“We came prepared and the young boys in our team played well,”Hussein said.
“We did it 1971 and we need to win again.
“Our aim was the playoff but since it went again for third round we switched focus to IDC.”
Taveuni’s first goal was scored by Samuel Nair in the first half and Vimeel Naidu scored in the second spell.
Dreketi coach Kamlesh Chand said most of their players were injured.
“We had three of our key players injured during our pool games but I’m still impressed with our performance overall.”
Dreketi has reached the semifinal and final stages of the Premier division since they joined Fiji Football in 1988.
Taveuni will play the premier division final against Tailevu Naitasiri at 3pm today.
