Multi-racialism and hard work paid off for Jai Narayan College when they won the South Pacific Computer Society Quiz (SPCSQ) and the Team Maths Competition (TMC) last week.
They won the SPCSQ, an annual event competed  for by 67 schools.
School principal Chandrika Prasad said 54 schools were from Fiji, nine from Samoa, three from Tonga and one from the Solomon Islands.
“We were represented by two Form Seven students; Shaneel Sami and Vicky Vishal Prasad. They were accompanied by their computer teacher, Reema Rajan,” Mr Prasad said.
“We sent 24 students to the TMC last week at Xavier College in Ba. We thank the school management for supporting and financing the tour. I also thank the teachers and the Maths head of department, Harmesh Sharma, for training the students.
“The wins have made history for Jai Narayan College. We entered as the Central Zone champion and finished as the South Pacific computer quiz champions and also the national champions in the TMC.”
Mr Sharma said the composition of students in the maths teams made the difference in the TMC.
“I salute the teachers and the students. Everyone worked hard and worked together.”
The SPCSQ team won the national quiz trophy, regional shield, a Dell laptop and the two participating students won certificates of participation, an MP3 player and a Terabyte hard disk each.
