After two rounds of the inaugural Westin Legends Golf Classic pro-am, Kym Olsen maintained his lead over favourite Rodger Davis on the leader board yesterday.
The Australian playing in his first year in the senior tour scored one under par 72 (143), while former Australian, New Zealand Open and PGA champion, Davis still trailing in second spot with 145 after he carded one over par 73.
For third spot saw a tie between Graeme Cheshire (75, 71) and New Zealand’s Peter Hayes (76,70) after both carded two over par total 146 a piece.
In the amateur category, Raymore Millard of Australia jumps into first spot with a score of 82 point, which drops round one leader and fellow countrymen Kevin Dart to trail with 70 points while surprise package Paul Bellingham at third spot with 69 points.
Today, Davis is expected to bounce back to challenge Olsen as they go for the $80,000 prizemoney.
Tournament director Richard Ellis said the Denarau course expects good scores today despite the weather.
“The scores are pretty good as the overseas pro had the first taste of the course today just after landing in Nadi, they have not practised,” said Ellis.
“There was torrential rain most of the time and the course was wet, but tomorrow (today) I expect very good scores as well in the stableford, which shows very good average,” said Ellis.
The third and final round starts at the Denarau Golf course today with the shot gun start at 9am and competition is expected to end at 2pm followed with the presentation at 6.30pm at the Coco Palms.
