One of Fiji’s budding athletes Wilma Cawi will be part of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Centennial celebrations.
Her dad will accompany her to the event in Barcelona.
Athletics Fiji president Albert Miller, said only two athletes were selected from the Oceania to represent the region and Fiji was fortunate to have her representing the organisation at the celebration. “We submit names of athletes to IAAF from their Coca-Cola Games results recognised as a World Athletics Games. From those submissions they select which athlete would go as an IAAF guest.
“We’re lucky that Wilma got picked,” Miller said.
Cawi was a student of Mahatma Ghandi Memorial before she left for studies in Australia this year.
She competes in the 100-metre race and long jump event. “We’ve had several winners before; I think the last one we had was Akesa Drotini.
