Twenty-five years ago, Alumita Ratu’s body was laid to rest beside the Nasekula Methodist Church.
She was the second-eldest child of the late Reverend Neumi Ratu.
Last Friday her body was removed from the church and transferred to the village cemetery.
Church committee representative Vilimone Davelevu said they had approached her mother Luse Ratu for her approval and also the Marama Tui Labasa Adi Salanieta Tuilomaloma Qomate had agreed.
“The late Tui Labasa, Ratu Tevita Qomate Ritova, had approved the burial of Alumita Ratu’s body because her father, the late Reverend Ratu was then serving his five-year term in the village,” Mr Davelevu said.
The Nasekula Church Committee was considering extending their church which necessitated the relocation of the grave.
Vilimone Davelevu also mentioned that the reason they wanted to extend their church was that it could not cater for the congregation now attending church services.
Reverend Jone Ledua performed the funeral service last Friday and later a small magiti (feast) was prepared by the Nasekula villagers.
