Five new mobile apps were launched by eighty young professionals participating in the week-long Youth TechCamp Fiji in Suva on Friday.
The apps namely, Ika Fiji, Road Signs, What’s on Sale, Food for Thot and Cure Fiji are creations and innovations of young people from the Pacific who participated at the TechCamp Fiji Mobile App Development Workshop.
These apps are available for downloading for free on any android phone from Friday.
The workshop, which is the first ever Youth TechCamp in Fiji and the Pacific, is supported by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Embassy in Suva in collaboration with Pasifika NEXUS and BrightPath Foundation.
Alzima Bano, a participant at the Youth TechCamp Workshop, described her experience as truly life- changing.
“This has been one of those rare once-in-a- lifetime opportunities that I can confidently say has changed my life. I always thought I wasn’t part of the ICT world but little did I realise that by doing my daily activities such as facebooking, blogging and even being on YouTube made me a part of it already.
This workshop truly empowered me and the facilitators had faith in us to complete the app in a week.”
