After a lapse of two years, the Fiji Airways has reintroducing the awards which recognises their partners, the travel agencies throughout the country.
Fiji Airways Regional Sales general manager, Josaia Rayawa said the annual event was to acknowledge the travel agency community in particular.
“It’s after two years because we have so many other things going now we want to continue with this event,” Mr Rayawa said.
“These are certain awards handed out based on their level of achievements in terms of the contributions made to Fiji Airways.
“Looking at the Fiji group there are little over 16 International Air Transport Association (IATA) travel agencies that we work with and a good number of those are being recognised for their efforts,” he said.
The awards night was at Sea Salt Restaurant at De Vos on the Park in Suva yesterday.
There are no basic categories for this awards night he said only that it gauges the turnover contributions they make in sales.
“The recognition gauges sales target of over $5 million and $1 million. Those are the ones we recognise at tonight’s (last night) awards night.
“Not that those who have not reached the million dollar mark will not be recognised but they will be acknowledged as well,” he said.

Area focus
He said Fiji Airways had set a sales target for travel agencies to achieve.
“With our travel agencies we have a partnership agreement on the set of sales target for them to achieve on our behalf and it’s fairly straight forward sales focus.”
“Our managing director and chief executive Stefan Pichler has exciting plans setup for everyone at Fiji Airways.
“And to cease opportunities in establishing this trade recognition awards for travel agencies, and briefly share our plans for the new year at the right time.”
