After a break of more than 10 years members of two famous vocal groups from the Lomaiviti Province have banded together to form a new group and produce a new album.
The groups, Voqa kei Gau e Loma and the MuaiGau Trio, have formed an acoustic singing (sigidrigi) group called Vula Serau kei Lomai.
The group’s spokesperson, Anasa Davui said they planned to launch their first album titled ‘Taleitaki’ sometime next week.
“We chose acoustic because we noticed a declining interest in the area by new artists but there is still a great deal of demand for this type of music,” Mr Davui said.
He said another reason was the group wanted to fully utilise the talents of their band members instead of relying on programmed music.
“We want to revive the tunes that these two groups were famously known for.”
Mr Davui assures that their audience can be rest assured to hear great music from them when the album is released.
“We urge the public to buy original copies because it will help us musicians to continue making good music successfully.”
Mr Davui thanked all those who had supported the group.
