Police laud youths fight against crime

The Fiji Police Force yesterday commended the efforts and contribution made by youths of Caubati.
In recognition of their good deeds, the Police rewarded them with certificates at a thanksgiving programme at the Valelevu Police bure in Suva yesterday.
The 70 Caubati youths were part of the Southern Division end of the year operation team under the Ligavata programme that helped patrol the streets of Caubati every night since last year.
The chief guest was Divisional Police Commander Southern, Acting Senior Superintendent of Police (A/SSP), Selesitino Babakoro.
“You have now seen your achievements and contribution towards the safety and security of your community in Caubati,” acting SSP Babakoro said.
“The Fiji Police needs the efforts of the public to reduce crime in our communities and the youths have done that.
“The Fiji Police Force needs your continuous effort and support to deter and reduce all criminal elements I our society and you have taken a bold step in making the right decision to come forward and work in partnership with the Police to prevent crimes.”
Ligavata programme co-ordinator Woman Police Constable Setaita Radrau said the initiative was put in place to help the youths of Caubati stay away from crime.
Meanwhile, Caubati youth Mary Talei said she was happy to be a member of the Police Operations team that helped prevented crimes in the Caubati area during the festive season.
