Stopping over at a fountain on the Labasa – Savusavu highway is a common thing by those who travel this highway.
The fountain is a pipe- like tap with water from the high mountains near the Lomaloma stretch flowing out of it. It is a popular stop-over for most travellers.
Last week motorists stopped over to fill water bottles and drank the cool fresh water.
Somendra Prasad, 23, said he was filling bottles from that fountain because the water was fresh and cool.
“It is fresh water, clean and tasty. Something like Fiji Water but this water is more chilled. It’s cool and like ice water and we are filling it straight from the source.”
Mr Prasad said he had known this area to be a popular spot for most motorists, bus drivers and now even locals have come to know the spot.
Known as a popular Savusavu – Labasa highway rest place the spot is a very convenient location for travellers.
A tea and snacks shop is also there, however, it was closed last Saturday.
James Kumar, a motorist, said he stopped by when passing through to have a cuppa.
“The coffee is tasty and the people here have really looked after this spot well.”
