Labasa 2 (Pita Baleitoga 8’, 60’)
Lautoka 1 (Alvin Avinesh 34’ penalty)
HT: 1-1

What happened:
The Apisalome Turuva captained Labasa side defeated Lautoka in the round three of the Fiji Sun/Skipper Tuna National Football League match at Churchill Park yesterday.
In front of a good crowd in the sugar city, it was  disappointing for the Blues fans to witness their third successive loss.
The Babasiga Lions started with a bang with the host making a nervous start failing to connect passes and struggled to gain territory especially in the midfield.
Labasa took advantage of those ploys and looked dominant in the first spell as Pita Baleitoga beat Lautoka goalie Alivereti Baleiloa to score his first goal of the match in the 8th minute.
Inexperienced Lautoka last man down Siotame Kubu was undecided with his wrong judgment.
Midfielder Alvin Avinesh scored the equaliser from a penalty in the 33rd minute after defender Pene Erenio fouled striker Dave Radrigai in the box.
Labasa continued their dominance in the second half after Bolaitoga scored his double.
Fiji Under- 20 striker Ashneel Raju came off the bench to make his debut for Labasa.

Big Play:
In the last 10 minutes of the first spell, Liesari Qalica made a great break with goalkeeper Vereti Dickson to beat but his shot was well blocked by Erenio.

Star Turn:
Labasa’s Taione Kerevanua (midfielder) and Pita Bolaitoga (striker) took command from their positions which allowed the  Babasiga Lions to dominate play.
Comment: Labasa coach Bal Sarju Reddy said: “We came here to win. Playing Lautoka at their home ground was very difficult but the boys remained focus.”
