Pastor Luke Mudu reminded the Fiji national 7s team of their duty during the HSBC Sevens World Series in Wellington later this week.
This was delivered during a sermon at Wellington Wesley Methodist Parish yesterday where the Ben Ryan coached side was welcomed by the Fijian community.
Alisi Ramacake said the church service was good and fruitful.
“The players were reminded of the Biblical story of David and Goliath by Pastor Mudu,”Ramacake said.
“He said no matter how hard the battle fighting against giant teams, they must remember David and Goliath story.
“Mudu told the players to forget the past, live for the present as they prepare for battle.
“The boys were motivated as they were frequently reminded not to see teams as giants but to lay their 100 per cent faith in God who will lead the side to victory this weekend.
“They should not tell the world how big their opponents are but let the world know how great their God is.”
Flyhalf Emosi Mulevoro told SUNsports from Wellington that they are adjusting well and are all looking forward to the two-day tourney.
“We are fine and well and everything is falling into place,” Mulevoro said.
The side was later hosted to a traditional welcoming ceremony after the church service followed by lunch hosted by the Fijian community.
