Hard work was the key word during the prefects’ induction at Samabula Primary School last Friday.
The school’s headteacher, Laisiasa Tuira, encouraged the prefects to perform to their best.
“As school prefects you now not only become leaders but should serve as role models,” Mr Tuira said.
He said this would not be an easy journey and prefects would have the support and assistance of the teachers at the school.
“I congratulate all of you who are taking on the new roles and ask that you focus on making a positive difference in the lives of people around you.”
Theodore Chand said he was honoured to be the school’s headboy. “I’m very excited with my new responsibilities.”
He said his badge meant he was to influence his peers into doing the right thing at the right time.
“I want to become an archaeologist when I grow up.”
The school’s headgirl, Ashweta Prasad, said, “I want to serve my school and fulfill my duties to the best of my abilities.”
She wants to become a doctor because it was her grandfather’s plea.
