Wheelchair brings Devi relief
Vodafone Fiji Foundation has given the power of mobility through its ‘Employee Engagement Initiative’ with a wheelchair donation.
Sarojini Devi, of Sabeto, Nadi, has been suffering from spinal disposition for the past six years after she was involved in a car accident in 2007.
Iliesa Volau, a territory executive at Vodafone based in Lautoka sighted the difficulty Ms Devi was facing whilst walking with canes and being assisted by her daughter. He then approached the family to offer assistance by making them aware of the availability of devices and donation offered by Vodafone Foundation.
“The only form of support is my daughter Sandika who is our breadwinner. The two member family survives on the social welfare assistance and by selling vegetables,” Ms Devi said.
“This wheelchair is a blessing for me. I thank Volau for the assistance and the Vodafone Foundation.”
Foundation executive Ambalika Kutty said: “We grateful to the Wheelchair Foundation in UK that had donated the ability devices and continuously partner with the Spinal Injury Association for the dissemination of the devices. Our employees are always in the forefront to assist the needy in the society through our Employee Engagement programmes and the Foundation ensures that we support their efforts.” – VODAFONE FIJI FOUNDATION
