The family of the late Penijamini Ravunawa, three, is still coming to terms with his death.
When the Fiji Sun team visited their home at Burebasaga Village yesterday the family was still in shock and grieving.
Fiji Police Force spokesperson, Atunaisa Sokomuri, said the body of the three- year old boy was found by his mother at a creek nearby.
“Yesterday (Saturday) at around 2.15pm at Burebasaga Village, a three- year old was found floating at Burebasaga Creek by her mother.
The mother, Keresi Kerevakauca, said they had been to the creek to do their laundry and when returning home they thought Penijamini was following behind them.
“After washing we came home and I thought he was following but I found that he was not with us so I returned and found him floating,” said the grief- stricken mother.
“Attempts were made to revive the deceased but with negative results and was announced dead on arrival at the Wainibokasi Hospital and is now waiting for post-mortem examination,” said Inspector Sokomuri.
