The High Court and Magistrates Court in Suva yesterday adjourned all court sittings because of the current weather conditions notice. Most of the cases have been moved to next week.
The Director of the Police Prosecutions in Suva, ASP Mohammed Yunus, yesterday confirmed that the courts were closed yesterday because of the power blackout as well as the current weather situation. Staff of the judiciary, including magistrates and judges, were seen making their way home after 9am yesterday. Meanwhile the Public Service Commission (PSC) had instructed all civil servants not in essential services to return home yesterday because of the unfavourable weather conditions.
