Motorists using the stretch of Kings Road from Naiborebore Village, Tailevu, towards Korovou town have been told to expect at least 20 minutes delay in traffic.
This is as Fiji Roads Authority workers complete initial diversion works and traffic is open to a single lane.
The FRA says its contractors are in the process of carrying out reinstatement works on infrastructure failures to reinstate the closed road.
It has urged motorists to drive with caution.
The stretch of road has been unusable since a slip forced the construction of a bypass.
Meanwhile, the Central/Eastern divisions, road works around Namosi Valley road are still in progress.
These roads were extensively damaged during the recent spate of bad weather and many roads are only passable with four-wheel drive vehicles.
The public are advised to avoid travel in this area if possible.
Meanwhile, in Naitasiri province, the Nakorosule Crossing has opened to all traffic after reinstatement works were completed.
In the Northern Division, the Natewa West Coast Road from Nayaroyaro Settlement to Vinivia Settlement is open for four-wheel drive vehicles at the moment.
FRA expects the road to be opened for buses from today.
