The Shop N Save Nadi soccer team wants to beat Rewa in the Fiji Sun/Skipper Tuna National Football League this weekend to record their fifth win of the season.
Nadi team manager Kamlesh Sami said players had been briefed on the importance of gaining victory at Ratu Cakobau Park.
“We do not underestimate Rewa,” Sami said.
“The onus is on the players. This is a very important match for us if we want to stay in the race for the National Football League title and to feature in the Oceania Football Confederation Champions League next year.’’
The inclusion of former national Under-23 rep Jone Salauneune is expected to bolster the side.
“Salauneune has been training with the side and we are also arranging for the release of Samuela Drudru and Lautoka defender Krishna Sami.
“Should the release be granted, Drudru and Sami will feature in the game against Rewa.”
He says Nadi is using the Fiji Sun/Skipper Tuna National League as a build-up to the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) matches.
“Apart from the training runs, we would like to feature in our next match against Lautoka but that would be upon the Fiji Football Association to decide.
“Coach Kamal Swamy is working on the game plan for this weekend and we need the support of fans.’’
The side stands with nine points after four matches played.
Nadi is expected to leave on Sunday morning for their match against Rewa at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori 3pm.
