The Red House is the new Suva Grammar School inter-house champion.
They dethroned Blue House at the ANZ Stadium yesterday after winning 23 gold medals, 4 silvers and 15 bronze medals.
Blue House finished second with 22 gold medals, 27 silvers and 22 bronze medals.
Yellow House was third with 19 gold medals, 21 silvers and 20 bronze medals while Green House was tail enders with 18 gold medals, 19 silvers and 19 bronze medals.
The former Boys’ Division champions of the Coca-Cola Games are on the road to regain lost glory at the Suva Zone Two following the meet yesterday.
Head coach and former national and regional sprint champion, Jone Delai was pleased with the performance of their elite athletes.
“We managed to have a good competition after missing out three weeks of competition because of the bad weather. I’m pleased with all the athletes, elite and non-elite. I’ve actually to identify a number of upcoming talents in the sub-junior grade so that’s one great outcome from the new age grade ruling,” Delai said.
He said a few students who had come from other schools did not perform to expectation but was confident they would step up in time for Suva Zone Two.
“We have a couple of new students in the older grades that did well but clearly held back their full potential. So I’ll have to push them when we have our time trials this Saturday. Moving towards the zone, we’ll need to step up preparations in order to improve from last year’s results.”
