A third application for a stay of proceedings by Fiji Labour Party leader and former Prime Minister Mahendra Chaudhry was yesterday refused by the High Court in Suva.
Justice Paul Madigan said in his ruling said the application was refused and the trial would proceed as listed on March 31. Barbara Malimali, who appeared for Chaudhry, then informed the court that in the next few days they will apply for a variation of bail for Chaudhry to spend some time in Sydney with his lawyer Guy Reynolds to discuss the case.
Chaudhry had denied the three counts of a breach of the Exchange Control Act which he is being charged with.
