The newly-elected prefects of DAV College in Nabua were reminded that their roles as leaders were vital in leading a group of people.
The chief guest and the Fiji Police Force’s Traffic Control Division’s director, Senior Superintendent of Police Mahesh Mishra, made these comments during the school’s prefects induction yesterday.
“Good leaders are very crucial and play a pivotal role in grooming a group or anything else because it is your character that makes you a good leader,” he said.
He said that those in leadership positions were required to lead with integrity and courage and exemplified good conduct.
“A noble character is worth more than knowledge or experience or anything else because it is your character that makes you a good leader,” SSP Mishra said.
Paula Tudravu said he was excited when informed that he had been chosen to be the headboy of the school.
“I feel so proud and happy about being elected headboy because I am the first iTaukei to become the headboy of the school.”
He said that though he may face challenges along the way he was ready to lead more than 700 students at the school.
“This journey will be very challenging. There will be problems that I will come across regarding students’ welfare but I am ready to lead,” he said.
Paula said that leaders needed to set their goals right in order to achieve their results.
More than 40 prefects and form captains were inducted at the school yesterday.
