Suva Adventist Primary School in Lami is the first school to join the Crime Stoppers Scholastic Programme, launched at the school yesterday.
The Crime Stoppers Scholastic programme is a confidential reporting programme against crimes that are yet to be committed in the school compound or committed to students outside of the school.
The school’s headteacher, Livema Guyaco said they were proud to be the first school in the country to enter the programme.
She said the programme would be very beneficial to the students as their school was located in an area that was very prone to criminal activities.
“This school is located in an area that is very prone to crime and many of these students come from red zones area within Lami.’’
Meanwhile, Fiji Police Force Southern Division Community Policing Manager, Inspector Sili Maka, said the programme was in line with the Duavata Policing model within the force. The model is based on an active partnership between them and the communities.
