The Fiji Roads Authority may set up a new diversion at the Kings Road past Naiborebore Village travelling towards Korovou Town. The road had suffered severe damage during the recent heavy rains in the Central Division.
Although nothing has been confirmed yet, the authority has said it was currently evaluating options based on preliminary reports from their geotechnical engineers.
Contractors were in the process of carrying out reinstatement works on infrastructure failures to reinstate the closed road.
The authority said the setting up of traffic lights was also part of the initial plan.
Traffic is currently being managed at the site and opens to a single lane only.
The road had suffered a major crack and slipped during the adverse weather conditions late last month.
