A timely boost for Shop N Save Nadi and 4R Electrical Ba after Vodafone Fiji Limited and CJ Patel Pacific presented a $50,000 cheque each to both teams.
The cheque presentation was at the National Football Academy, Ba yesterday.
The money is for the teams to prepare for the Oceania Football Confederation Champions League (O-League) play-off next month.
Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel said the presentation was for both teams to prepare for the upcoming O-League.
“Nadi and Ba are ambassadors for Fiji Football,’’ Patel said.
He said this year had provided Fiji Football with a greater opportunity for Fiji teams, either Ba or Nadi, to qualify for the lucrative $500,000 FIFA Club World Cup 2014.
“It is also another great opportunity for teams to play a home and away grand final match. The requirements by both the teams for preparation have been granted and we hope you make us proud.
Nadi Football Association president Navneeda Goundar thanked the sponsors and Fiji FA for the timely support and assured fans of his Nadi team reaching the semifinals in the O-League.
Meanwhile, Ba Football president Rishi Kumar said sponsors played a vital role as they knew that sports united the people of Fiji.
“I have been telling all my friends that the final match in the O-League 2014 will be played between Ba and Nadi. Our dream is there and hopefully it comes true,” Kumar said.
“It will be a big development for Fiji soccer if we reach that stage and winning the O-League 2014,’’ he said.
