FORMER FIJIAN SECONDARY SCHOOL ATHLETICS CHAMP DOES WONDERS IN USA

Former Fijian secondary schools middle-distance athletics champion Ana Baleivicau Kaloucava is doing wonders at the New Mexico Military School in Roswell, United States of America.
Last weekend she competed in the NJCAA Indoor Championships at the Armory Track and Field Centre, New York, United States.
She improved on her personal times and also set a record for her school.
The New Mexico Military Insitute Athletics (NMMIA) Facebook page re[ports, “New Mexico Military Institute’s Women’s track and field team brought its first-ever indoor season to a close in faraway New York City at The Armory. Ana Baleivicau raced in the finals of the 600 metre run and brought home a medal. After two and half laps of the three lap indoor race, Baleivicau found herself in last place and out of medal contention. Coming out of the last curve, she started her sprint, and 50 metres later, moved herself into seventh place. Her time was more than a half-second faster than her preliminary time.
“Baleivicau’s seventh place finish is only the third National Medal won by NMMI women in eight years. The highest place at NJCAA Nationals was a sixth place finish by Emilia Skolubowicz in the 3000m steeplechase.
“The first meet in the outdoor season will probably be the first week of April at the Texas Tech Red Raider Invitational. The Outdoor season culminates with the NJCAA Outdoor Nationals in May hosted by Mesa Community College in Mesa, Arizona–located just outside of Phoenix.”
