Nadi Football Association president, Navneeda Goundar says Nadi has been grouped in a pool of death in the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Champions League 2014.
Shop N Save Nadi has been grouped alongside Amicale Football Club, AS Dragon and defending champions Auckland City.
“We are in Group B, a pool of death because the remaining three teams in the group are top guns and it will be a tough battle,’’ said Goundar.
Nadi will play its first match against defending champions Auckland City at Churchill Park, Lautoka on 8 April at 4pm.
“We have been training hard for the first match and players will give their very best on the field. The side has three weeks from now to prepare well.
He says after featuring in the O-League last year, team officials have identified rooms for development to have a smooth run in the tournament.
“We are working on all aspects of the game and our coach Kamal Swamy is working with the team to have the best combination possible.
However, the side will face a major blow should the disciplinary hearing next week, suspend William Valentine and Shafeem Buksh after failing to turn up to play against Rewa in the Fiji Sun/Skipper Tuna National Football League match last Sunday.
“Nadi Football does not have any room for indiscipline and will be hard on players,’’ said Goundar.
Meanwhile, Nadi is still working on the release for Samuela Drudru and Lautoka defender Krishna Sami to feature in the O-League.
“We are expecting to receive the release by Friday,” Goundar said.
