The first winners of the Fiji Dancing Super Stars competition are $10,000 richer.
The champion duo, John Peckham and Sharleen Ali, received their cheque from the chief guest Attorney-General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, after they won the final in Suva on Saturday night.
They have been consistent performers throughout the competition and in the end they proved they were a cut above the rest.
They left little doubt in the minds of the judges Peter Rockford Espiritu, the director of the Oceania Dance Theatre; Naziah Ali, the publisher of Mai Life magazine; Amit Ashween Chand of Masti Arts and Dance Group; Laisiasa Veikoso, the director of the Fiji Arts Council.
The winners acknowledged the competition was very tough. Ms Ali said it pushed them to work harder and try harder at every competition.
But she said “it’s paid off in the biggest way.”
