Nadi’s Park Street came alive on Monday night as crowds took to the street to celebrate Holi.
The entire street was cordoned off for the event as people from, all walks of life, took part or witnessed the celebration of colours unfold.
Keen performers, mainly local dancers, rocked the street with latest Bollywood numbers.
People settled in with the loud music. The objective was to boost socialising and provide entertainment as people sprinkled coloured powder at each other. Programme organiser Kunjal Nair said the day marked an important day in the Hindu calendar with the theme ‘festival of life and festival of colours’.
“We are proud to organise this event, as it also gave people the opportunity to come out to Nadi Town during the night,” Mr Nair said.
“We are thankful to the Nadi Chamber of Commerce and industry and the Nadi Town Council for supporting us.” Mr Nair is also the director of the Women’s Crib Fitness Centre and added: “Our gym has organised various events like social parties, dance competition, boxing competition and we looked forward to organizing something for Holi and it was a success.”
I feel Nadi Town should have more activities like this and that is one of the reason we always keen to organise events of such magnitude.
Despite being a last minute decision we noticed a big turnout.” Mr Nair said.
