JYOTI PRATIBHA, West Editor

Master moves
So, Mahendra Chaudhry – the man some call the political master – goes to Australia to visit his lawyer and at the same time manages to be chief guest at a meeting with the anti-Government sorts. Coincidence?

Alternative policy? not
Those wanting to contest the general elections are coming out of the woodwork now and their strategy to get noticed is to start complaining about everything under the sun. They are offering solutions to perceived problems or alternatives to current policies, but just want to do away with decrees.
A real shame is that no one is talking about how they will work to ensure our social and economic rights continue to be taken care of.

Thinking Of Laisa
Our thoughts and prayers are with Laisa Taga, who is battling a serious illness.
The former school athletics record breaker went on to become one of the real pioneers of women in the media in Fiji.
She was a producer in local TV news, the first Fijian woman to be editor of a daily newspaper and then editor-in-chief of the biggest regional magazine group.
This strong, no-nonsense lady from Bua opened doors for the many women in the media today.

Grand Look
The Grand Pacific Hotel has certainly unleashed a very colonial look with their uniforms. Designed by an Australian, this new uniform is literally the talk of the town.

Distant Views
Many outside the country are still taking to social media sites under fake identities to cry wolf. The famous western grog session took a swipe at those who have found that living well at our neighbours more beneficial but want to still have a say on Fiji..

Naive Views
Those who think elections are happening because of sanctions by some who thought they would bring us to heel are naive to say the least.
With unprecedented sustained economic growth, one can just see for themselves that Fiji has seen more growth without traditional partners. Which now brings to question why Fiji did not see such level of growth under previous administrations which had no sanctions placed against them? Food for thought.
