A Rice Field Day will be organised by the Ministry of Agriculture this week which is expected to be held at Taganikala settlement, Nadogo outside Labasa.
Farmers the Tikina Nadogo will gather at the function on Thursday in order to increase awareness on rice farming.
Meanwhile in an earlier report, the principal agriculture officer north John Cox said the event was basically to educate farmers on the modern technological methods used.
Farmers will be shown how to use Lego II and Lego IV in which rice is planted in rows of either two or four to enable better weed control.
“They will be encouraged to apply these technologies in order to maximise their production,” Mr Cox said.
“The technology will be convenient as it has a higher production capacity, early maturity time frame and most importantly, easy to manage in weed control, water and fertiliser application.”
