Proper physical education is important to be implemented in primary schools, says Peter Mazey.
The Fiji National Sports Commission chief executive officer made the comment during the National Sports Organisations annual conference in Suva last Saturday.
Mazey said this was the common concern shared by all the organisations.
“All the sports organisations shared this concern and we definitely agree that there needs to be serious, proper investment in the correct sports education of our future generations,” he said.
“We will have to work in conjunction with the Ministry of Education on the most suitable, appropriate programme and implement it in the school curriculum.”
The Minister for Youth and Sports Commander Viliame Naupoto echoed similar sentiments.
“There has been a call for proper physical education at the primary school level and that’s something we’ll be looking to address in the best possible manner.
“I believe that these conferences serve as a building block for us the government to work out the best possible way to serve our customers, which are the sportspeople of this country,” he said.
